Core expertise

Four connected disciplines

Depth where it matters.
Range where it helps.

My range lets me see the complete system. My strongest contribution is making the architecture, implementation, and product experience work as one.

01

Backend engineering

Systems that stay understandable as they grow.

I design service boundaries, data models, access control, payments, background processing, and operational tooling for production platforms.

  • Domain-driven architecture
  • APIs & service contracts
  • Event-driven workflows
  • Authentication & RBAC
  • Payments & webhooks
  • Performance & observability
02

AI engineering

Intelligence with explicit boundaries and evidence.

I turn model capabilities into dependable product behavior through retrieval, structured decisions, context management, safety rules, and evaluation.

  • Conversational systems
  • RAG pipelines
  • Agent workflows
  • Deterministic guardrails
  • Structured AI decisions
  • Evaluation & monitoring
03

Web engineering

Fast interfaces connected to real product systems.

I build responsive user experiences, administration tools, design systems, and content platforms with performance and accessibility considered early.

  • Frontend architecture
  • Server rendering
  • Design systems
  • Accessibility
  • Performance optimization
  • Analytics & experimentation
04

Mobile engineering

Cross-platform experiences ready for real devices.

I integrate mobile applications with production APIs, stabilize native functionality, handle deep linking, media, and release workflows.

  • React Native & Expo
  • API integration
  • Deep & smart links
  • Native media playback
  • Authentication flows
  • EAS & TestFlight delivery
06

Technology constellation

Tools selected by purpose

A working toolkit, not a logo wall

Technology follows
the problem.

I choose tools for their fit, operational cost, team context, and ability to keep the system maintainable after launch.

I’m Vance, a software engineer interested in the complete journey from an ambiguous problem to a dependable product.

Over the past four years, I have worked across fintech, health, education, media, social platforms, food technology, and humanitarian systems. That range taught me to move comfortably between product thinking, architecture, implementation, and delivery.

I have collaborated with teams across Nigeria, the United States, the United Kingdom, China, and India. I do my best work where the problem is complex, the outcome matters, and engineering decisions need to survive beyond the first release.

2022—Present

A progression in responsibility

Closer to the system.
Closer to the outcome.

The titles changed. The direction stayed consistent: broader ownership, harder systems, and more responsibility for what reached production.

Engineering principles

How I make decisions

The operating system behind the work

Good systems are built
from clear decisions.

01

Start with the constraint.

The right architecture begins with the real user, business, team, security, and delivery constraints—not a fashionable pattern.

02

Keep boundaries explicit.

Clear domains, contracts, ownership, and failure modes make systems easier to change and safer to operate.

03

Design for failure.

Retries, idempotency, audit trails, observability, and graceful degradation belong in the design before production needs them.

04

Make tradeoffs visible.

Technical choices should have an explainable reason, known cost, and a clear signal for when they need to change.

05

Treat AI as a system component.

Models need context boundaries, deterministic safeguards, evaluation, fallbacks, and monitoring just like every other dependency.

06

Ship, measure, improve.

A useful production release creates evidence. That evidence should guide the next technical and product decision.
